Hong Kong Admissions

Hong Kong Admissions

Every year, we help students to attain notoriously competitive places at top international schools across Hong Kong. Last year, our consultants and tutors helped students to gain places at numerous sought after schools including GSIS, Harrow, Kellett and HKIS. In such a competitive landscape, it is well worth investing in some professional guidance on which school to choose as well as receive application strategies on how to set yourself apart and give you the best chance of securing a place. Having resided in Hong Kong since 1996, our trusted partner, Ruth, has over 25 years’ experience in the education system, as a teacher, a teacher-trainer, a parent and now consultant. With one child at international school in Hong Kong and the other at boarding school in the UK, Ruth is well versed in both systems. Ruth is a frequent contributor to local media and leading newspapers such as the SCMP and is generally regarded as the go-to expert on this topic.

Oxbridge Admissions

Oxbridge Admissions

For those aspiring to secure a place at the famously competitive University of Oxford and University of Cambridge, confidence is key and that involves preparation. A well poised personal statement or strong interview can make or break a successful application. Bespoke Tuition pairs an applicant with an Oxbridge consultant and specialist tutors (in most case who attended the same college and course) who can provide behind-the-scenes insight into the admissions process, everyday life, pros and cons of different colleges as well as insider tips and tricks to help your application stand out from the crowd. From personal statement models to interview role play and sample tests, our Oxbridge specialists will ensure you feel as confident as possible in composing an exemplary application and perform to the best of your ability in any subject-specific tests such as the TSA, LNAT, BMAT and CAT.

Online Tutoring

Online Tutoring

Whether it is a necessity or a preference, many of the best tuition outcomes we have seen, have involved a combination of in-person tuition supplemented with online. Many of our clients have then chosen to proceed with online sessions exclusively thereafter for the academic continuity, stability and flexibility it provides. A significant portion of our most experienced tutors now exclusively specialise in delivering online tuition, working across multiple timezones to deliver highly effective virtual tutorials. This provides students access to a wide range of professional tutors, anytime, anywhere (with an internet connection). Students can select the platform with which they are most familiar (skype, zoom, bramble etc.) and our virtual tutors can also provide access to interactive whiteboards and the most technologically advanced screen-sharing software. Tutors are still personally matched to each tutee and students benefit from the sense of agency and control of having their own personal and easily accessible tutor.

UK Admissions

UK Admissions

We understand how daunting it can be for families selecting the right school and university for students in the UK, regardless of whether they are already based here or overseas. Our expert range of specialists at nursery/kindergarten, primary, secondary and tertiary level combine over 50 years’ experience in selecting the ideal fit for each student and ensuring students have all the tools to compose an application that sets them up for success. From selecting the right subjects through school to navigating the UCAS/Oxbridge system, our experts have all ages and stages covered. Since 2010, we have helped students from all over the world successfully secure coveted places and scholarships at leading British schools and universities. Our accomplished consultants will help students to not only make the right choice but also to stand out from the crowd.

Residential Tuition

Residential Tuition

Our Residential Tutors who live in with a family, or in nearby lodging, can be hired at any time of year, for any period of time. Fast-track or long term, the intensive nature of daily tuition can really help students take major strides ahead in their learning. Some families like to use this service at home, wherever that may be in the world, whilst others choose to make use of the travel possibility as it enables students to balance time out with study over half term, Christmas, Easter, New Year or the long Summer holidays. Having a live-in tutor can either be a full time homeschooling solution or a supplement to school, with students benefiting from an on-site academic mentor to guide them through a challenging period. Whilst we would encourage sticking to a routine to clearly define work and play, the tutoring schedule can be entirely flexible to suit the family. A popular pattern is 2-3 hours of tutoring in the morning, followed by 1-2 hours in the afternoon, with plenty of fun activities in between as suits the family. Some families choose to involve their tutors in extracurriculars, particularly if on a holiday at a ski resort or other remote location, whilst others opt for private family time. A weekly rate is charged for this service affording an average of 25-30 hours tutoring per week, plus the tutor’s flights, visa, insurance and full board. The luxury of having an on-site tutor also allows for extended learning beyond the curriculum, building key study and life skills as well as confidence. This is highly tailored tutoring that results in students walking away with a personalised learning toolkit alongside better grades and an inspired mind.

Hourly Tuition

Hourly Tuition

Our main tuition service is the delivery of carefully tailored tuition delivered by the hour, or day, in person at family homes (London and Hong Kong) or online (worldwide). All tuition is one to one (though small groups can be accommodated on demand) and highly customised. Many of the tutors who are selected to join the exclusive team at Bespoke Tuition have been specifically headhunted for their outstanding expertise. The majority are ‘Career Tutors’, as opposed to part time educators, or professional teachers with PGCE qualification. All are vetted via our meticulous recruitment process. We are well known for the care we take in matching tutors to students based on subject, level and interest areas. Successful tuition occurs when a student admires and relates to their tutor so we purposefully recruit a range of bright, engaging and charismatic communicators with high emotional intelligence and wide-ranging talents and hobbies. When a family requests a tutor, we conduct a personalised search and then send proposals via email for the family’s review, detailing applicants that match the academic level, objectives and interests of the student. A trial then takes place, either in person or online as appropriate, to ensure a good fit. This is truly bespoke academic tuition.

Homeschooling

Homeschooling

An increasingly popular option worldwide, many families are actively opting to  remove their child from mainstream schooling in favour of tutoring them at home on a full time or flexi-schooling basis. Bespoke Tuition has supported families in this process from start to finish since 2010. Following an in-depth consultation, ideally in-person, our professional consultants will tailor a bespoke academic programme to suit the objectives, personality, interests and motivations of the family. Our experienced home-schooling educators are mostly ex-schoolteachers who can confidently take full control of a student’s academic studies and devise a customised and structured curriculum that will meet a family’s short and long-term objectives. Whether the schooling will take place at home, abroad or ‘at sea’, we can send single or multiple inspiring educators to your door/port! We can also help students to register and prepare for external exams where relevant and our tutors can collaborate with relevant schools to ensure the home-schooling complements any curriculum and teaching methods that may be applicable to the student.
