Strong academic achievement is no longer enough to stand out in today’s school leaver and graduate market. At many top firms around the world, there are several rounds of competency-based and skill-based interviews to help firms differentiate between students with similar, very strong academic backgrounds.

Despite so much time and effort being invested in a candidate’s education, interview preparation is often a skill that is overlooked. This can unfortunately mean that the very best candidates on paper will miss out on their dream job, due to a lack of experience in interview technique.

Targeting 15-26 year olds, our Interview Skills Programme is designed to provide students with the same high level of preparation for interview that they would have had for their school exams. The aim of the programme is to teach a wide range of techniques and skills to help candidates succeed in their chosen process; this in turn, provides them with the confidence to show the very best version of themselves at interview and use real and current advice to prepare them for an experience they may never have come across in their school careers.

As a City professional with several years of experience in the delivery of each stage of the interview process, Jamie has ensured that this programme provides a unique insight into what market-leading firms are looking for in their candidates and uses his current and real experience to enhance the candidates’ chances of being successful in the process.

Jamie

Having achieved a First Class BA Hons in Economic and Finance from Exeter University in 2015, Jamie then trained as an ACA Chartered Accountant ICAEW (100% first time passes), qualifiying as an ACA Accountant in 2017, and has since worked with big 4 accountancy firm, Deloitte. Alongside his day job, Jamie has been managing and running all the new joiner recruitment processes, interviews and training for his department (c.10 new joiners a year) for the last few years. Jamie has offered interview skills support since 2016, with 14 out of 15 successful applicants, helping these students to gain places on prestigious graduate schemes, courses and internships.

 

Course Content

  • Introduction: get-to-know, industry aspirations & motivations.
  • Competency based interview technique.
  • Soft skills: body language, verbal comms etc.
  • Industry prep: discuss themes and company details.
  • Mock interview and feedback.

Whilst bespoke courses can be arranged, the recommended format is part online, part in person over 2-5 intensive sessions.
