Book Club

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
- Dr Seuss -

Overview

There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate’s loot on Treasure Island.” ~ Walt Disney

Inspiring a love of reading is one of the greatest gifts we can give to our children. Our stimulating online Book Clubs (adaptable for 7-18 year olds) are organised by age, level and objectives. Students will share, discuss and analyse ideas, themes, plots and characters. Recommended reading lists will be curated to suit a student’s individual interests or curriculum texts can be followed. Reluctant readers will be inspired to discover their inner bookworm and those with a natural flair can develop their reading repertoire, or nurture a specific interest area. We firmly believe that people who say they don’t enjoy reading just haven’t found the right book yet! Our course leaders range from Early Years School Teachers to A Level English examiners and published Children’s’ Book Authors.

The Bespoke Element

Whether for an individual or group, our Book Club Leaders tailor their courses to suit the student’s objectives, reading age, personal interests and motivations. We aim to engage students in reading for pleasure, as well as bolster the skills required for their English Language and Literature curriculum.

Previous requests have included a book club for comic lovers (graphic novels were the key), a ‘Stretch & Challenge’ club (examining the wider significance of the material and author’s message etc.) and a club for reluctant readers (incorporating drama, different genres & personal themes). Students can opt to receive a personalised series of one-to-one sessions or gather a group of friends together.

”Reading is essential for those who seek to rise above the ordinary.” ~ Jim Rohn

“Erika is not an avid reader to say the least, and she still insisted on continuing tutoring sessions during the summer and even while we were on vacation.”

Mother of 14 year old

“Bea is extremely reliable and hardworking. She works independently and was always eager to try and find new ways in which to tackle a problem. Indeed, I found her creative spirit quite infectious, as did Elliot who seemed more willing with her to try new and innovative ways to approach book reports, essays and even class presentations.”
